Ever Wonder Why You are So Tired After Diving When it Seems Such a Relaxing and Chill Activity?

Diving is an exhilarating experience that lets you explore a whole new world beneath the surface of the water. But, as with any physical activity, it can also be exhausting, leaving you feeling tired and drained. In this blog, we'll explore some of the reasons why you might feel so tired after diving.

  1. Physical exertion - Diving requires a lot of physical exertion, even if you're just snorkeling or doing a shallow dive. You need to swim against the current, control your breathing, and carry heavy gear. All of these activities can take a toll on your body, especially if you're not used to them. You might feel sore muscles, fatigue, and even some minor injuries like bruises or cuts.

  2. Pressure changes - As you descend into the water, the pressure around you changes. Your body has to adjust to this change, which can be quite taxing. Your lungs have to work harder to maintain a steady airflow, and your body has to compensate for the pressure changes. This can cause fatigue, dizziness, and other symptoms like headache or ear pain.

  3. Dehydration - Diving can be dehydrating, especially if you're diving in saltwater. Saltwater can dehydrate you faster than freshwater, which can lead to fatigue, headaches, and other symptoms. Additionally, wearing a wetsuit can cause you to sweat, which can further dehydrate you.

  4. Water temperatures - No matter where you are diving the water is almost always going to be colder than your body temperature and depending on where you're diving, the water temperature can be quite cold. This will cause your body to work harder to maintain a stable temperature, which can lead to fatigue and exhaustion. Heat is energy and the water will literally suck the energy out of you.

  5. Mental exhaustion - Diving requires a lot of mental focus and concentration. You need to be aware of your surroundings, control your breathing, and communicate with your dive partner. All of this mental effort can be exhausting, especially if you're doing a long dive or multiple dives in a day.

All of this boils down to being really tired after a couple divers. Therefore, it is important to plan your after diving day accordingly. Simply put,

planning a night out on the town after a dive probably isn't the best idea if you want to impress the ladies or gents!
