After working with students for several years it has come to my attention that somethings need to be made clear before training starts. The most obvious issue is how the instructor and students will interact we each other and general boundaries. I would appreciate peoples input into my new Teaching Style and Policy page. I would value comments from both people who have been students and people who may be prospective students. Let me know what you think!

At SpringAdventures, LLC we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality scuba diving experiences which meets the needs of our diverse clientele. We recognize that each individual has unique preferences and learning styles.
Teaching Style: Your instructor will be a dedicated scuba instructor belonging to the Gen X generation and pretty much everything that entails. Known for his patience when he believes patience is deserved, he offers unwavering support to individuals earnestly striving to grasp the intricacies of scuba diving. He excels in guiding those who are genuinely engaged, ensuring they understand the techniques and safety protocols thoroughly. However, and this is a big however, it's essential to note that Robert maintains a straightforward, no-nonsense teaching style. His critiques will be frank and unvarnished. They will not be tempered to protect feelings, but will instead be focused on protecting lives. Robert is exceptionally patient with individuals who are genuinely putting in effort but may not have the tolerance for those who are not attentive or disrupt the learning environment. This is non-negotiable. Robert values respect for the learning process and expects students to approach scuba training with seriousness and focus. This is a safety issue. If a student cannot pay attention and be respectful to instruction their health and safety will be at risk during the dives.
This teaching style, while effective for many, may not be suitable for every student. We understand that different personalities and learning preferences exist among our clientele. Therefore, we encourage students to discuss their preferences and expectations with us before enrolling in a course. Reasonable accommodations can and will be made if we are made aware of the need for such in advance. Such accommodations may not compromise the health and safety of any participants. Our goal is to match each student with an instructor whose teaching style aligns with their learning needs, ensuring a positive and productive scuba diving experience for everyone involved.
Age and Maturity Requirement: Our minimum age requirement for scuba diving training is 10 years old. However, it's important to note that while age is a factor, maturity is equally significant. Our experienced instructor, reserves the right to assess the maturity level of both children and adults to determine if they are ready for scuba training.
Parent Child Engagement: Parents enrolling their children in our courses must understand that scuba diving is a skill that requires independence. Children must be capable of performing skills independently, without parental assistance. The certification process mandates that the child demonstrates the ability to dive without their parents, showcasing their self-sufficiency and confidence in their scuba skills.
We firmly discourage helicopter parenting during scuba training. It's vital for parents to trust our instructors' expertise and allow their children the space to learn and grow independently. While we understand parental concern, fostering independence is a key aspect of scuba training, empowering participants to become responsible and confident divers.
Fitness to Dive: Individuals who appear to our instructors to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to train or dive. At all times, the instructor retains the right to determine that a student or guest is not physical fit or able to participate in training or diving. Fitness includes both physical and mental fitness. If you are deemed to be unfit for training then clearance may be required by the appropriate professional. However, regardless of any professional clearing a diver’s fitness, the dive professional has the final say as to dive fitness.
Additional Charges: Please note that many of our courses are accelerated courses. If additional time is required, then additional charges will be incurred.
Zero Tolerance/Civility Requirement: Individuals who bully, harassing or are disrespectful to other students, instructors or persons in general will have their training or dives cancelled and no refund will be provided. No additional warnings will be provided.

We appreciate your understanding and collaboration in creating a conducive learning environment for all our students.
